Mindfulness is about an attitude of mind. It’s about letting go of permanently creating ourselves and paying gentle firm attention to whatever presents itself without judgement.
Mindfulness is what the Buddha practices, but as Jon Kabatt Zinn (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction pioneer) explains:
“It is not the property of any one tradition, but an opportunity for everyone of any background to discover a way of living less caught up with self and more just about being: finding relaxation and awareness to be our natural state.”
This awareness is cultivated and practiced during sitting mindfulness meditation.
